September 2021 Updates

Hello everyone! We are now allowing clients to come inside the building with their pets with the requirement of wearing a mask. Curbside is still an option for those who feel more comfortable with this style of service.

Our lobby is also open for you to pick up medications and supplies.

Both of our offices are open Monday through Friday and closed on the weekends with the exception of the Valley West location lobby being open 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sundays to pick up/drop off boarding/medications (no doctor present).

We are still committed to following Covid-19 protocols in order to keep our clients and team safe. We are experiencing a large surge in appointments at this time so we ask that you please be kind and patient as we try our best to see everyone.

We look forward to seeing you and your pets!

March 2021 Updates

We are excited about the reopening of our Elk Valley location. We will be open Monday through Friday at both locations and closed on the weekends.

We are still committed to following all Covid-19 protocols in order to keep our clients and team safe.

We look forward to seeing you and your pet soon!

November 24th Updates

Dear Valued Clients,

Due to the recent surge of coronavirus in the region, we have had to make some changes to continue serving you and your pets.

Starting Monday, November 30th, we will be CLOSING our ELKVIEW facility, and consolidating all our employees to one location. We will operate solely out of Valley West, at 301 Virginia Street West in Charleston.

The Valley West location will still be open to care for all your veterinary needs, including puppy and kitten boosters, rabies vaccines, and sick and injured pets, general wellness, and non-elective surgeries.

If you currently have an existing wellness or routine surgery appointment, one of our staff members may contact you to reschedule that appointment. While we still want to honor well visits as much as possible, injured, and sick pets must be prioritized at this time.

These new temporary guidelines will allow our staff to work in teams creating a safer environment so that we may continue to remain open and provide veterinary care for your pet.  Otherwise, a positive test for coronavirus could result in our entire staff having to quarantine for weeks. With the new protocol in place, if an employee tests positive for COVID we would be able to quarantine just that team and not have to close the entire hospital for an extended period.

We will continue operating via curbside service, and still welcome you to pick up medications, pet food, and prescriptions as needed.  We are also pleased to mail any medications you need.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and greatly appreciate your understanding during this difficult time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

May 18th Updates

We want to thank everyone so much for their continued support and patience! We will be reopening our Elk Valley location Monday, May 18th. We will still be using curbside service in order to practice social distancing. When you arrive at our parking lot you can text the number 304-381-5020 and give your name, your pet's name, and reason for arrival. You may also still call 304-915-0790.

There is road construction currently blocking Old Frame Rd so you will need to take the access road on Rt. 119 beside of Mitch's towing. If you need any assistance please give us a call!

We have shortened our regular business hours to close at 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and will be closed on Saturdays. The Kanawha Valley Animal Emergency Hospital opens at 6:00 pm daily and is open continuously from Friday at 6:00 pm through Monday at 7:00 am. Again, thank you so much for all of your understanding!

March 23rd Updates

We would like to thank everyone so much for their support, patience, and understanding as we navigate through this time together.

Due to the latest update from Governor Justice on Covid-19, we have made the decision to temporarily close the Elk Valley location.

We are, however, continuing medical services at the Valley West location with the curbside service still in effect. Our phone lines will be forwarded there or you can call 304-915-0944. Their address is 301 Virginia St. West, Charleston 25302.

Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but please be assured that we are here to help you and your pet and keep everyone as safe as possible!

At Valley West, we will be temporarily ending Saturday and Sunday hours. We are also going to shorten our regular business hours and close at 6 pm Monday through Friday. The Kanawha Valley Animal Emergency Hospital opens at 6 pm daily and is open continuously from Friday from 6 pm until 7 am Monday morning.

We are happy to continue seeing regular appointments but would recommend that you please call before to determine if your issue can be scheduled in a few weeks. We will continue to use our curbside service in order to practice social distancing.

As this uncertainty hopefully moves toward an end we will keep you updated with any changes affecting the care of your pet.

Again, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but please be assured that we are here to help you and your pet and keep everyone as safe as possible.

March 20th Updates

As recommended by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) we will not be scheduling elective spays/neuters at this time. There is a national shortage of medical supplies and all healthcare professionals have been asked to delay elective procedures. If you are unsure if you have an elective procedure scheduled please call and we will be happy to discuss it with you!

We are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause but please understand that this is for the safety of our community and staff members so that we can continue to provide medical care for our beloved pets.

March 19th Updates

Valley West and Elk Valley Veterinary hospitals would like to inform you that there may be a delay in our food delivery. This is due to the high demand of requests during COVID-19.

We are asking the following:

  • Royal Canin customers, please call and let us know what food you are needing in the near future. We will be unable to order in large quantities but can order the food early for you.
  • If you are a Hill’s customer, please call and let our receptionist explain and sign you up for Hill’s “Hill’s to Home” program.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

March 18th Updates

Curbside Service: Valley West and Elk Valley Veterinary Hospitals are committed to continue providing veterinary service in a responsible manner during this time of COVID 19.

In order to do so, we are asking that upon arriving at either location that you please call the front desk and check-in. At that time a staff member will come out to retrieve your pet and gather some information regarding your visit. If you do not think this is feasible for your situation, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your needs.

Once your pet is inside, an exam will be performed by one of our doctors in the hospital treatment area and they will communicate with you about your pet. On completion of the visit, payment can be taken over the phone if possible and we will bring your pet back to you.

Food purchases and medications will be available for pick up. Payment will be done over the phone if possible and we will bring the items to you.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this will cause but please understand that this is for the safety of our community and staff members so that we can continue to provide medical care for our beloved pets. Thanks for your cooperation.
